tabletop time machine

Ah – them were the days! I bought my copy of Scoop at Hurleys, a wonderful but now extinct little department store half way between Balham and Tooting Bec. Just look at that box lid! Reminiscent of something out of a 1950s British TV series like Fabian of the Yard or a film like The Long Arm. I almost wish I still had it, if not quite enough to buy one of several on offer at eBay. It’s a pity no inventor was credited, for it introduced several new board game concepts.

THE INDIE ROUNDUP
RPGs are strange beasts. They transport us to other worlds, allow us to become beings of power, influence, and action. At least some of the time. RPGs can also be grounded in the real, letting us live different versions of ourselves, speaking to our needs, wants, and desires. Some do this literally. I love it when an RPG has a meta-textual aspect to it: it speaks to the reader directly, explores the concept of RPGs while being an RPG, or just tries something so weird I can’t wrap my head around it.
