TABLE TOP GAMING 100TH ISSUE
GAME CHANGING
Rob Burman, creator and inaugural editor of Tabletop Gaming, looks back at its creation and launch
This year marks two really important milestones for Tabletop Gaming. Not only does it feature issue 100 - which you’ve got in your eager hands at the moment - it’s also 10 years since the magazine was first launched. To celebrate these achievements, Charlie asked me (as the first editor) to get all misty-eyed and look back at how Tabletop Gaming came to fruition. It’s a story of twists, turns, illness and me not being able to count properly. Strap in!
Firstly we’re going to have to travel back to around 2013 - ‘selfie’ was the word of the year, Prince George was born, Man of Steel was in cinemas and I had just got back into tabletop gaming. Growing up I’d always been interested in miniature wargaming, after I received a copy of Heroquest under the Christmas tree in the early ‘90s and was immediately captivated by a world full of mischievous goblins, powerful wizards and terrifying demons! However, like so many people, my interest had dropped off in my late teens when I started playing more video games, joined a band and had an ill-fated detour into the world of skateboarding. My finger still clicks after some disastrous falls.
