The Knitter  |  Issue 156
Issue 156 is on sale now, and it’s filled with cosy accessory projects to make for friends and family this Christmas, or to knit for yourself as the weather turns colder. We’ve put together a collection of 14 projects for you to cast on and love, using Fair Isle, intarsia, cables, lace and slip stitch colourwork.
Our designs include two lace patterns from Anniken Allis: a delicate shawl in a shimmering cashmere-blend yarn; and a cosy aran-weight poncho. Other accessory patterns include pair of handsome textured socks, a star-patterned hat, a bright intarsia scarf by Sasha Kagan, and a pretty Fair Isle tam and mitts from Outi Kater. Along with quick-knit projects, there are sweaters for men and women, such as a modern cable sweater by Debbie Bliss, a mohair yoked jumper, a lace-sleeved cardigan, and a neat lace and twisted stitch jumper by Sandra Nesbitt.
We review new yarns from Britain and beyond, discover the vibrant hand-dyed colours of Bow Fiddle Yarns, and explore the role of knitting in 20th century women’s fiction. Plus, our special supplement features a richly cabled cardigan by Sarah Hatton.
