MY LIFE IN CARS
MAX CHILTON
The Brit F1 and IndyCar racer tells TG about his modified Defender, his 2.7 RS Touring and a dabble with a Daytona
Iwas always very young when I moved up classes as a kid. I always wanted to race against the best rather than staying down a year to potentially win a championship. From the age of eight my target was Formula One.
I set a record when I became the youngest ever Formula Three racer. It was a weekend at Donington Park in the British F3 Championship and I got special dispensation from the FIA to qualify on the Saturday, which was my last day of being 15. That meant it was my 16th birthday on race day, so that will never be beaten. I ended up doing a full year in the British F3 Championship before I had a road car licence.
