Far be it from me to stifle the impish sense of humour of Hyundai’s engineers. They’ve found the time to wire the forward view camera in the i20N’s windscreen to spot S-bend signs then prompt the car to offer up its raciest drive mode, so you can fully exploit the corners ahead. The idea makes me smile. But the execution needs polish. It turns out several good S-bends near me don’t actually have a warning sign, but some twisty 30mph residential stretches do. You’re also given a shortcut to full N mode rather than your own, perhaps subtler custom set-up, leading me to turn the alerts off anyway.
Ultimately, I’d like to think anyone wanting to properly dig into the i20N’s sweet handling is reading the road ahead adequately in the first place...
