STAR CORRESPONDENCE

Targa tales

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you from ‘across the pond’, from Southeastern Pennsylvania, USA to be exact, and I am happy to say I am finally a subscriber after years of buying your magazine from our local bookstore – and really enjoying all of the special covers that come to those of us with subscriptions. What a great idea that really turns the printed magazine into a collectable item, kudos to everyone involved in bringing that to life.

After many years of wanting, waiting and searching, pausing and then searching again, I finally acquired my first Porsche (a 911 of course) last year. I, like many others during the pandemic, re-evaluated just about everything and the decision was made to begin the search yet again for what has always been my ultimate dream car –a proper air-cooled 911. After years of owning many other German cars – two E46 M3s, a 330i Manual Sport, an Audi S4, the Lambo V10 Audi S6, and my new daily, a tuned V8 Audi S6 making over 500hp at the wheels – it was finally time to find the car I have always longed for since collecting toy cars as a kid! I don’t have to explain it really, something about the 911 has always resonated with us and it really is the perfect harmony of design and engineering. I also knew it would be an air-cooled example and most likely a G-Series from '84 to '89.
