Thefinal film by Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Venus), following his shock death last year, The Duke is a fine example of why he was one of Britain’s most talented directors. A true story, it tells of Kempton Bunton (Jim Broadbent), a Geordie taxi driver who becomes embroiled in the 1961 theft of Goya’s Portrait Of The Duke Of Wellington – the only time London’s famous National Gallery has ever been successfully broken into.
