Ever since National Geographic’s iconic documentary Gabon: The last Eden in the mid-noughties, there has been an allure among Africa aficionados to visit the country, particularly Loango National Park, where rainforests stretch all the way to the ocean, connected to an enormous delta of lagoons, creating a very special wilderness and wildlife experience.
But with the price levels of Monte Carlo, tourism facilities once best suited for student hikers and Kafkaesque immigration procedures, there is no surprise the crowds have stayed away. But the 2022 opening of N’dola Camp and the re-opening of its smaller affiliate Louri Camp in Loango marks a fresh opportunity for tourists to visit this unique part of Africa.
