1. FISHING ON THE BROADS
The spark to ignite a passion for fishing comes from somewhere, and for me it came from family trips on my Grandad’s boat on The Broads. The Wookey Witch was a fabulous all-wooden cabin cruiser. The Captain kept a tidy ship but didn’t mind breaking the day’s journey for fishing. It was prolific in those days: a few maggots beneath a 5BB Ivan Marks waggler would bring a steady haul of silvery roach (my childhood sweetheart and still my favourite fish), golden rudd, greedy perch, sluggish bream and the occasional dreaded eel. That's me in the Daiwa hat.
