This fly was created by my friend Graham Lumsdon, who passed away last year. Graham and I enjoyed sharing stories over a dram or two. One such tale was how this fly was originated. Graham was holidaying on Mull when he came across a dead black sheep. Seeing an opportunity for free fly-tying materials, he took black wool from the carcass. Later that evening, the Mull Black Killer was born. Graham wasn’t known for his fly-tying prowess and any fly with more than three materials was never going to make it into his fly-box, yet he could catch fish in a puddle.
