THE last time I saw Nick Cave in concert was at the Royal Albert Hall, seven years ago. Billed as a solo show, it naturally featured Warren Ellis along with veterans from several Bad Seeds lineups. There was a piano, too. But for the most part, I remember Cave striding up and down the front of the stage, occasionally dragging microphone stands and sundry pieces of equipment into the crowd as he encouraged audience members to listen to his heartbeat. This was May 2015, since when a lot has happened both to Cave and elsewhere in the world.
