KENYA AIRWAYS signed a short-term lease agreement with Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly for the supply of a single Airbus A330 to “enhance operational efficiency” during the peak festive season.
The ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) lease saw the introduction of A330-202 9H-HFH (c/n 950) into the flag carrier’s fleet on December 20. It operated its first flight connecting Nairobi with Dubai the following day.
Allan Kilavuka, Kenya Airways Group managing director and CEO, said the airline needed to take practical steps in the short term to address challenges in the market: “With the current capacity constraints on the back of the growing demand for airline travel, we need to balance our customers’ immediate needs by bringing more capacity into the market.”
