INDIA SAW the launch of its latest airline, FLY91, with an inaugural flight from Manohar International airport, Goa, to Kempegowda International airport, Bengaluru on March 18. A second service also linked the latter with Sindhudurg airport, Maharashtra later the same day.
FLY91, whose name derives from India’s international telephone code 91, received its air operating certificate from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation a week before the first flight. It becomes the first Indian carrier to use Manohar International as its home base.
Currently, FLY91 operates a single 76-seat ATR 72-600 VT-FIB (c/n 1385) with a second, VT-FLY (c/n 1364), due for delivery. It has already outlined plans to acquire six more aircraft within the next six months.
