JOBY AVIATION and Virgin Atlantic have joined forces to launch a new eVTOL air taxi operation in the UK. The airline, which had previously partnered with UK-based Vertical Aerospace, said the switch to California-based Joby “brings together two brands committed to innovation, customer service and challenging the status quo.” Joby has already partnered with Delta Air Lines, which owns a 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic.
Operated by a single pilot, the proposed electric air taxi has six tilting propellers and is expected to be able to travel up to 100 miles with four passengers at speeds of up to 200mph. Joby has completed thousands of test flights around the world so far.
