Yet the trials and tribulations of the previous years were not over and the three-man crew of Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were facing one of the most dramatic spaceflights in history. We recall the historic first words said on the lunar surface, and the elation of the largest TV audience in history at that time when they saw those grainy black and white images from the Moon, but there is so much more to the story of Apollo 11 that may not be as well known.
