Inspiration: Claire Lomas finishes the Great North Run after a five-day effort
MO FARAH aside, probably the biggest story of this year’s Great North Run was Claire Lomas.
The paralysed woman, who was wearing a “bionic” suit, completed the Great North Run on Sunday morning five days after she started it.
Lomas, from Leicestershire, was paralysed from the chest down in a riding accident in 2007.
The 36-year-old, who is 16 weeks pregnant, said she was “over the moon” to finish the run. She broke her neck, back and ribs and punctured a lung when her horse threw her during a trials event in Nottinghamshire.
