Animals are vital members of our community – from those we share our homes with, to the wildlife in our local rivers. Yet, it’s a sad fact that many farm creatures endure lives of mistreatment and neglect only for their sole purpose to be bred for food.
Thankfully, there are many sanctuaries up and down the country that do amazing work to turn these animals’ lives round for the better. Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary, which sits on 91 acres of Worcestershire countryside, provides a spacious home to over 250 rescued animals. Among them are geese, turkeys, hens, cows, sheep, pigs and goats – pretty much any farm animal you can think of – who you’ll find here living a good quality of life. Vanessa Rhoden, on behalf of the sanctuary, gives us an insight to the hands on (or should we say, paws on?) work they do.
