Two decades after debuting with melodramatic indie-rock opus The Runaway Found, Finn Andrews’ collective have become favourites of directors including Tim Burton and David Lynch. The pairing makes sense, given the cinematic bent of their seventh album. Driven by brittle piano, formidable strings, and lyrics inspired by greats including Hieronymus Bosch and Federico García Lorca, Andrews weaves together an achingly beautiful album here exploring life’s big ideas. Fans of The National and later Talk Talk will find much to love.
