Coast  |  No.86 Coastal Christmas
Coast readers are brilliant. It’s true. I had the privilege of spending a day with 80 of you at our annual Beach Clean in September, and what lovely people you are! The chalky cliffs at Birling Gap created a stunning backdrop for our day out, where, under the guidance of the Marine Conservation Society, we explored rockpools before litter-picking our way across the pebbles. Despite the beach appearing clean, we found over a thousand pieces of rubbish in two short hours. See photos of the day on our Facebook page. Thanks to everyone who participated. I can’t wait until the next time.
British people are renowned for complaining about the weather, but as we head towards Christmas, I’m reminded of how much I love this country and its climate. It’s never boring. The cyclical nature of the seasons offers constant opportunity for change, and, with the winter comes the promise of snow, wood fires, mittens, chestnuts and Christmas celebrations. I hope this issue gives you some festive inspiration. Please do share your coastal celebrations with us on twitter, Facebook or by email. Happy Christmas!
