Is there any point me buying a Wi-Fi 6 router?
Q I read Issue 701’s Cover Feature on binning your old router with great interest. I have Fibre-tothe-Cabinet (FTTC) broadband, with the last short section to my house on copper only. My provider is Plusnet, and I have the company’s Hub Two router. Plusnet told me it would be pointless for me to use a Wi-Fi 6 router because my service can only use Wi-Fi 5. I would not get 802.11ax speeds even with the world’s best Wi-Fi 6 router. Also, most routers provided by ISPs are actually routers and modems combined, so how exactly would this work with my kind of service?
