TRANSFORM YOUR SCENICS
MASTER THE MAGIC OF FILTERS
James Abbott shows you how to use filters to take control of light and exposure for creative effects in your landscape photos
Photography is all about light, and the ability to control it is an essential skill, regardless of the subjects you shoot. Landscape photography typically relies on P natural light and weather conditions – unlike studio photography, for instance, where the photographer has full control over light and exposure. But despite this huge difference, landscape photographers can use filters to control the way that light enters the lens. The extent of this control available is surprisingly high, and whether you aim to simply control exposure or add in-camera creative effects, you’re only ever a few steps away – you simply need to know what’s available alongside how and when to use a specific filter or even several filters at once.
