Caspar Phillipson: Jackie’s JFK, alongside Natalie Portman.
Maria’s JFK, alongside Angelina Jolie.
THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT John F. Kennedy once famously said in a speech, “Ich bin ein Berliner.” Caspar Phillipson, meanwhile, could quite reasonably paraphrase, “Ich bin ein Kennedy.” The Danish actor has become the guy to go to to play JFK for almost a decade now, playing the legendary politician multiple times, including for the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, Swedish film Hammarskjöld and most recently in Pablo Larraín’s Maria, sharing a short but memorable scene with Angelina Jolie. “She was wonderful,” says Phillipson of his co-star. “It’s full of layers, that scene: they’re both living icons, but both trapped in a gilded cage.”
