He’s got an axe to grind — Keanu Reeves is back as John Wick;
TALK TO CHAD Stahelski for long enough and you’ll form the strong opinion that this is a man of strong opinions. On art, on literature, on architecture, on pretty much anything you’d care to name. And yes, on sequels. “Keanu and I talked about this ad nauseum, even way back in the days when I was his double,” says Stahelski, who was indeed Keanu Reeves’ stunt double on films such as The Matrix, before becoming the author of all his pain as director of all four John Wick films. “Why a lot of sequels don’t work as well is that they expect the magic to come from the outside,” he tells Empire. “‘Let’s have a bigger set-piece, let’s blow more shit up!’ That’s not the answer. The only way to make something better that you’ve already done is to make yourself better.”
