1944 WALK OF SHAME

Accused of collaborating with German soldiers during the Nazi occupation of France, these two Frenchwomen are being paraded through Paris – with heads shaved and swastikas painted on their foreheads, their complicity clear for all to see. At least 20,000 women had their heads shaved in France during this time. Many of these were prostitutes who had accepted German clients, or mothers whose children had been fathered by soldiers of the German army.
