Pioneered in Akai’s famous MPC range of drum sequencers in the 1980’s, Note Repeat is a really handy feature when programming drum parts, especially if you’re into making trap or hip-hop beats. It transforms a held note into a series of repeated MIDI notes at whatever grid resolution you choose, producing a very recognisable effect.
Logic has two built-in Note Repeat processors. The Note Repeater MIDI FX plugin is accessible from the channel strip, but for this tutorial, we’re going to focus on the more obscure Note Repeat panel.
