On the Trail of the Lonesome Pine

OH DEAR Lord… Dad’s singing to us again… he just canna help himself. More about that later.

This trip, we decided to combine a few things we wanted to do, these being, attending a Lin Anderson book launch in Aviemore, a hill climb… and finally, a luxury indeed, a visit to a shop other than the Co-op.

Our first stop on our way east, was a place we had parked at a few times on our jaunts, yet for some reason had never visited its ‘attraction’, which is Logie Falls at Contin.

It’s only a short walk through the woods to get to the wire bridge that spans the river, and it does defy belief that salmon can indeed make their way past the roaring torrents.

There’s a section of the trees with a rather spectacular green glow upon their trunks

Another thing to keep an eye out for here, is there’s a section of the trees with a rather spectacular green glow upon their trunks.

Sadly, we couldn’t linger too long, as we had to head off to Carrbridge or we’d be late for the book launch.

Dad was a tad surprised at this point, as upon checking the fuel gauge, we seemed to be getting rather better mileage from the Blazemobile than usual, until I pointed out that the truck was now considerably lighter since Laoch had digested the middle row of seats.
