When Linux 5.2 was released, a new feature was added to support optimised case-insensitive file name look-ups in the Ext4 filesystem - the first of native Linux filesystems to do it. Over a year has passed since this (controversial) feature was made available, and work continues to build on top of it and make it more and more useful for system developers and end users.
