MECHANICAL ANIMALS
The cover for Marilyn Manson’s third album and second in a trilogy released in reverse chronological order was a controversial one. Designed by Paul Brown and shot by regular Manson collaborator Joseph Cultice, it features the singer naked, sans dangly bits and daubed in a latex layer created by a Japanese special effects artist called Screaming Mad George. The false breasts Manson sports under the latex are said to now be in the hands of Johnny Depp, while the Photoshopped hips reportedly belong to Elle Macpherson.
