WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR ITX?
Honestly, not a lot. The form factor is probably one of the most forgiving out there. That’s arguably a reason it has stayed around for as long as it has. In short, you only need to account for three main things. First, the dimensions must be 17 x 17cm (or 6.9 x 6.9 inches); the mounting hole locations must be in the same position as the four found on the top left side of an ATX motherboard, and lastly, the rear I/O must be in the same position as well. Everything else is fair game— socket position, DIMM slots, headers, power, you name it. Via technologies were incredibly generous in that way, and it has certainly given ITX longer legs than the likes of FlexATX, Mini ATX, and similar form factors that emerged at the time.
