New data has revealed that Langdale Marathon is the UK’s toughest marathon, with the highest percentage of DNFs (did not finish). The study found 15% of runners who entered Langdale – in the heart of the Lake District – failed to complete it. Those brave enough to take the race on face an elevation gain of 1,036m (3,399ft) and virtually no flat terrain.
