Model Engineer  |  4533
Welcome to Model Engineer Issue 4533
A good mixed bag this time as we look firstly at the work of the renowned model engineer, Harry Powell, a craftsman at Crew Works and builder of the one of the finest 7¼ inch gauge Pacifics ever. We also start a new series by Geoff Moore who took a Gold Medal at the 2014 MEX for his unique 5 inch gauge P1 ‘Mikado’.
An article about researching for a modelling project features this time: Chris Broad wanted to recreate an Ulverston built Merchant Schooner but there was very little information to hand. He tells of his progress.
Model making includes the Allan Brothers ‘semi-Diesel’ engine, Barclay Well Tanks and our regular I/C engine, Mastiff Plus from Mick Knights.
Ted Jolliffe makes a simple little vice for holding thin metal and Clive Fenn looks back at his ‘formative’ years as a young model engineer. Finally, Peter King continues the story of setting up a CNC facility from scratch.
