HOW TO BUILD ‘TITFIELD’ STATION
EXPERT MODELLERS SHOW YOU HOW
Peco’s laser-cut kit of Monkton Combe station can easily double as the fictional Titfield – just like the real location. Peter Marriott offers essential assembly tips.
Monkton Combe, once an intermediate station on the long-closed Camerton branch near Bath, emerged into the limelight in 1952 when it was chosen to be the eponymous location for the Ealing Comedy The Titfield Thunderbolt.
With Rapido’s new Titfield-themed models having arrived, now’s the perfect time to try out Peco’s kit of Monkton Combe station building.
The kit’s parts are well defined and simple to assemble, thanks to the tab-and-slot joints. Some smaller detail parts are a little fiddly but, once assembled, the structure is robust and looks jolly good. That said, I would have liked the instructions to be a little more expansive, which may help modellers with less experience of this type of kit.
