00 GAUGE
In addition to the CIÉ open wagons revealed last month, Irish Railway Models (IRM) is also developing ‘OO’ gauge models of the humble 12t flat wagon, employing the same Bulleid triangulated chassis. Introduced in the late 1950s, the ‘LB’ wagons were employed for all manner of cargoes, operating within mixed goods trains across the Republic of Ireland. Examples lingered on in maintenance trains into the 1980s.
IRM will also produce the CIÉ’s Permanent Way Department flat wagons, which were created from redundant vans. All models will be offered in triple‐packs and they can be ordered now from the IRM website.
