The MP for Argyll and Bute has lodged an early-day motion in parliament to congratulate Betty MacIntyre on being crowned Hero Nurse of the Year. Brendan O’Hara asked the House of Commons to acknowledge the ‘outstanding contribution’ made by the Oban midwife.
He said: ‘Over the past 50 years, [Betty] has delivered hundreds of babies, some in the most remote parts of Scotland, and many in the most extreme circumstances, including on a lifeboat, in a horse-box, on a pier, aboard a car ferry and even in a helicopter.’
