NHS HIGHLAND has been alerted to a scam targeting cardiology patients with home monitoring.
The British Heart Rhythm Society has emailed all members warning them to be vigilant after a patient received a phone call from an individual saying that the box/equipment was not working. The patient was asked to replace it and was offered the option of buying a lifetime warranty for £167 and paid. Fiona Dawson, principal cardiac physiologist for NHS Highland, said: ‘Under no circumstances would the NHS or any company we work with be making these calls and charging patients for warranties.’
