The Crerar Trust has awarded a grant of £5,000 to Islay and Jura Community Enterprises (IJCE).
IJCE, trading as The Mactaggart Leisure Centre, is seeking to install a Hyprolyser electro chlorinator machine which will generate chlorine for use in the swimming pool and this grant will be used to help fund its purchase.
Rather than buy drums of chlorine from mainland chemical companies, the leisure centre will only have to purchase bags of salt. This salt is dissolved in water in a brine tank and the mixture then pumped through an electric cell to produce chlorine which is dosed directly in to the swimming pool.
