Traffic chaos on the roads last week caused by a wide load moving through the area during the middle of the day prompted widespread condemnation.
James Johnson said: ‘This is down to police scotland .the transport company’s only move when police escort these loads ….99% of haulage company’s including the company moving these loads want to move loads like this at night for less disruption for every road user . But the police make the final decision on times of movements ....’
Eleane Tweedly posted: ‘Lost count of the number of times I’ve seen more or less the whole of Oban shut down for several hours so they can take wide loads the opposite direction to the usual traffic flow as it’s the only way to get them past the roundabout at Nancy Blacks to the ferry terminal. And it’s invariably done at this time of year to the horror of the locals & amazement & frustration of the tourists!’
