KINGNOMAD
Sober ex-stoner Swedish rockers tap into rich prog heritage.
“I WANT TO BE transported to some other place,” says Mr Jay, singer, guitarist and sometime keyboard player with stargazing Scandinavian quartet Kingnomad. “That’s what I get from music – the journey, the escape.”
For a moment this seems odd. As he’s talking to Prog, he’s sitting in what looks like bucolic bliss outside his home in the north of Sweden, where the sun doesn’t set for several months, and the northern lights can regularly be seen in winter. But maybe his sights are set more on time travel, to connect with the 70s Nordic prog trailblazers he loves, or perhaps a voyage beyond our earthly realm?
