JASMENO, FOR READERS not fluent in Esperanto, is the word for ‘jasmine’ in the world’s favourite auxiliary language. “The scent of jasmine is a thing I’ve always enjoyed,” says bandleader Slavomir Maria Nietupski, over the phone from his home near Gdańsk in Poland. “And these days so many band names are already taken, so it was pretty hard to find something unique. I checked it on the internet and nobody had used it before.”
