DURING an event at Marylebone station at which a bronze bust of him was unveiled, the founding managing director of Chiltern Railways Adrian Shooter CBE was also reunited with what he regularly describes as his “favourite train”.
Named after him to mark the occasion, Class 168 No. 168001 was the first new unit completed for Chiltern in 1998. It also made history by being the inaugual train ordered by a private sector operator as franchises took over from British Rail.
