AUGUST START FOR TYSELEY TOURS
Tyseley’s race to become the fourth fully fledged steam operator is officially on, following its declaration that its share issue passed the minimum £800,000 target by the deadline. Indeed, after the announcement that around £850k was in the kitty by the time of the ‘tot up’ after May 31, Vintage Trains said it was still aiming to be running in time for part of this year’s planned ‘Shakespeare Express’ season. Ben Mason – who has been appointed commercial director of the new Vintage Trains Ltd (i.e. the train operating company) – told me in June that the target was for the Sunday trains to be able to start in late August/early September, and they are likely to run into the middle of that month.
