A s appealing as the Switch remains, there are drawbacks to its handheld form, especially when playing with the diddy Joy-Con controller can be a fast track to hand cramp. There have been plenty of workarounds over the years… but CRKD’s solution simply turns it into a Steam Deck, just a tad lighter.
Instead of slotting in bulky controllers at the sides, you slide the console itself into this deck, and then reap all the pro-level benefits it brings – including a comfortable form factor, a D-pad that’s great for both fighting games and puzzlers, and Hall Effect thumbsticks that mean no more drifting woes. It also keeps a lot of nifty features usually missing from third-party controllers, such as gyro controls and even rumble (which is maybe not exactly Nintendo’s patented HD type but is effective).
