The Holderness Gazette, April 18, 2024.

Featuring the story of a Withernsea man who found a parachute on the town's beach that is thought to be from a US fighter jet that crashed off the East Yorkshire coast four years ago, killing the pilot.

Plus: the discovery of a stone that could be from the lost town of Ravenser Odd, students learn about the devastation of split-second violence in a visit from the charity One Punch Hull, and we hear from the inspirational vicar set to tell the story of his coast-to-coast walk.

A popular youth music group are celebrating after receiving new equipment for their club thanks to a generous donation from Withernsea Big Local, while the volunteers behind Withernsea Carnival echo the appeals of other local event organisers and urge people to help with donations and sponsorship in any way they can to ensure the event's future.

Yorkshire Energy Park relaunches its Community Fund for groups in South West Holderness, while Withernsea High pupils become design engineers for a day.

We also focus on some great local businesses - Baron Hartley Wines of Hornsea, Salt Revive of Beverley, and the Hull museum Dinostar, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

In sport, Hornsea RUFC progress to the next round of the cup after defeating old rivals Hessle, Hull KR avenge last year's Challenge Cup heartbreak, a look at the changes at the top at Hull FC, and Patrington Cricket Club looks forward to the start of a new season. Plus reports from Withernsea AFC, Easington United, AFC Skirlaugh, and AFC Preston Ladies and Girls.
