Dear Readers, This week we are celebrating the generation we call the baby boomers: those of us who were born between 1946 and 1964 – I squeeze in at 1962. The world changed post-war, and we changed with it. In fact, we drove that change. Ours is one of the most progressive generations in history. We sent a man to the moon. We remember black and white TV and party lines, but we were the earliest adopters of the internet (or worldwide web as we used to call it). According to Judith Holder’s glorious piece this week, we have mastered the art of growing old gracefully and know that you’re never too old to have a giggle. Or too past it to take up a new hobby, or perfect an old one. Like putting our feet up and reading a good book. And why not? As Liz Hogkinson discovers, it’s official, reading makes you a nicer person. So does golf, apparently. Certainly there are some tempting golf holidays on the travel pages and some equally tempting summer party dresses on fashion. All ‘our’ age appropriate of course… Until next week Sam Taylor, Editor
