Jo and Rob
Hi there, my name is Jo and I have been asked to write a piece about my life as the partner of a trans person. To be perfectly honest with you, my life is pretty much exactly the same as anyone else’s. Other than when he first told me, transrelated things are no longer at the centre of our relationship; in fact, it’s rarely mentioned unless if something comes up about it, like an appointment. There is nothing extraordinary about daily life with a transgender person, other than perhaps the amazing sex, but that is definitely a story for another time.
So, what can I say about us? Rob and I have been kindred spirits since the first day we clapped eyes on each other when we were just teenagers at College. I remember he had long, wavy dark hair pulled up in a ponytail, and he was wearing blue jodhpurs and a blue polo neck. We quickly became friends, and even though we left College and our lives took off in different directions, we never lost contact, and we made a pact to meet up every now and then. It was a further five years before our friendship naturally progressed into a full-fledged relationship.
