Nina: Hello Tyler it says on your site www.enfemme.style that it has being making clothes for crossdressers for over 20 years which is impressive. Please can you tell our readers how and why the company first started and basically a little about the early history?
Tyler DeSouza: Yes! I started with my mother over 25 years ago producing a small catalogue called Affordable Fantasies & Illusions. This was in the early 1990s after my mother had a small but successful business in her home studio doing makeovers for crossdressers and trans women. This was makeup consulting, but also clothing and styling with wigs, for a total transformation. In the early 1990s the internet hadn’t become what it is today and so the catalogue was a natural extension of her studio. Then in the mid-1990s, we made the decision to sell online, and in the mid 2000s we rebranded as Suddenly Fem where we began to design and manufacture our own clothing, creating a proprietary process to fit bodies that were AMAB (assigned male at birth) as well as adding newer products including compression panties or gaffs, and larger selections of shoes and wigs. I learned how to design and create fashions, which was always an interest in mine, and became the primary designer for Suddenly Fem whilst also managing operations.
After my mother retired in 2017 and subsequently passed away from lung cancer in 2019, I rebranded, and incorporated the business under my own management to create En Femme. En Femme is now the leading brand for crossdressers and trans women in the United States, and we have grown to include a diverse range of customers looking for clothing and accessories designed to fit them right the first time, and with their specific fit-needs in mind.
