Sloane’s have responded to demand from their customer base by creating a delicious, vegan hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was trialled on thousands of vegans at Vegan Life Live London earlier this year and the response was so positive that Sloane will be selling the product in 1KG Barista packs. As well as this, the hot chocolate will be available at vegan and drinks festivals around the UK including the London Coffee Festival (12-15th April 2018), where they will be partnering with Oatly.

Planet Organic has launched a ‘vegan shop’ on its online store which has over three and a half thousand veganfriendly products. These products are not simply food products, but also beauty, home and health products too. Planet Organic has been providing customers with dietary requirements with a greater range of options than traditional supermarkets since 1995 and it estimates that at least 70 per cent of its customers follow a specific diet or lifestyle which affects their food choices. Peter Marsh, CEO at Planet Organic, said: “We now have over 3,700 vegan products for our customers to choose from and the next logical step was to make it even easier for people to shop our entire vegan range and our new vegan shop can serve as a simple, ‘onestop shop’ for vegans.”

About Vegan Life

This month I had a lovely email from loyal Vegan Life reader Rebecca Willmott that I wanted to share with you all. Sadly, due to a miscarriage, Rebecca had been spending a lot of time at the Lancaster Women’s Emergency Unit and after flicking through some mindless women’s mags, she decided to donate some of her old issues of Vegan Life to the magazine pile. On her next visit she was pleased to see that the Vegan Life magazines were being proudly displayed on the main desk in the waiting room alongside the health leaflets. “A silver lining to a sad time,” she wrote. I was thrilled to get Rebecca’s email for two reasons. Firstly, of course, it was lovely to hear from a reader spreading compassion far and wide, especially when life had dealt her such a harsh blow. It was also the fact that on returning, Vegan Life was being promoted and used by the Emergency Unit. Rebecca’s email made me think about how much times have changed. We are no longer a small community seen as ‘an extreme other’ to the rest of the world and non-vegans are beginning to sit up and listen to our message. This was most evident to me at Vegan Life Live London in February. Thousands upon thousands of people poured into Alexandra Palace and I had the pleasure of speaking to many of them. I was genuinely surprised about how many were not vegan (yet!), but were v-curious and interested in speaking to vegans, listening to us and opening their hearts to a more compassionate life. Vegan Life Live was a hive of activity. People swarmed from stand to stand in the knowledge that they were supporting vegan and vegan-friendly businesses by eating cake, buying perfumes and listening to some of the most inspirational people on the planet. It was an honour to be there. If you didn’t make it to Vegan Life Live London, this month we are heading to Lancashire for Vegan Life Live Manchester on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of April 2018. Have a wonderful month. See you in May.
