We all get our inspiration from somewhere — whether from famous people or well-known quotes. The word ‘inspire’ means ‘to breath in’, so either the rousing thing takes our breath away with their message, or just allows us to breathe. This is what happened with me, as my inspiration came from the most unlikely source — an elderly man living in a small, terraced house in our street who cut the tiny patch of grass outside his home with scissors, and who spent his time picking up litter in the street that people had thrown out from their cars. I have never spoken to him and do not know his name; he never makes eye contact and mumbles constantly and quietly to himself as he goes about clearing the street of rubbish.
