The new all-female series is once again a daughter of karting with many of the protagonists already known in the four little wheels!

The start of the W Series is fast approaching, and with the selections, the first official outings and the last tests on the track have been filed away, it’s time to get serious as regards the race program that will follow as part of the DTM calendar.

At the end of the selection under the eyes of wellknown motorsport figures such as David Coulthard, the 18 women from 13 different nations competed fiercely from the start. A ruthless competition among the new protagonists of the 2019 season, a real war between women for a place in the first championship exclusively for women under the FIA brand.

On the weekend of 3 and 4 May, on the historic Hockenheim track, the girls at the wheel of the Tatuus F-318 will thus start the new chapter in motorsport history. An expression that could seem almost exaggerated were it not for the absolute importance of this series, which has gone from concept or idea to reality. Too often, in fact, the girls with engines in their blood have seen the road to races barred from the beginning by those who did not believe in their potential or who did not look kindly on their long hair under the racing helmet. All this, thanks to the W Series, will now be possible, grant access, even via the policy of cost-cutting, obviously important in an expensive world like ours. But we must take a step back when we talk about reality, thinking above all of the beginning of each driver’s own growth or development path. Once again, karting enters the scene forcefully, files replete with records of careers, victories, the potential and all the good that they had shown on the track in the first stages of their career paths. Unlike many other series, karting has never barred the way for racing women, at least not at extreme levels. It is useful to know that each year, the entry lists of the most important competitions are honored at best by competitive girls. In the list of the chosen ones for the new W Series, many ex-kart drivers have come to create their own histories in motorsport with covered wheels, minor single-seater categories up to the W Series, which is also useful, of course, for relaunching their careers.
