Richmond Park, Richmond Upon Thames, London
Natasha Bain relies on loops of Richmond Park to test that she’s marathon ready
Richmond Park, my most beloved park in London, is fully embedded in my personal history. A stunning undulating terrain of trail, grassland and wild wide-open spaces where deer roam freely, it’s a challenging yet exhilarating running course. At the peak of the maximum 12 per cent gradient track which aligns parallel to Broomfield Hill Road is a hilly trail I call Marathon Assured. For the longest run of a marathon training schedule, I will always do three laps of the 7.25-mile perimeter on the uphill route track, the start of which requires a sharp left turn as you enter Robin Hood Gate.
